Designed while working with MATTER, the Orchard House sits on a narrow part of a long site which used to be a vegetable garden. The simple, load bearing structure was planned around the few trees that existed on site, in an attempt to save as much of the natural site as possible. A large A-frame gestures towards the existing building towards the front of the site, gracefully bringing users in.

Towards the back of the site, a long, IPS pool is carved into the earth, with a small pool pavilion which assimilates the natural vegetation around it into a serene environment. The pool serves to be an oasis: with the joy being linked to the act of its discovery.
